Class Dojo

ClassDojo has changed the face of my class! I tell every teacher I meet about how wonderful ClassDojo is and what it can do to make their job easier. It is very challenging to find a behavior system that works for every type of student in the classroom and as the students mature, they don't want to be given a star or move a clothespin with their name on it. Any great behavior system requires the students to buy into it and motivate them. ClassDojo does just that! Each student can create their own personal avatar and they can even login from home to update and change their avatar as they please. A teacher can reward the students and add points to the avatars. Now what's even better, is that the teacher can specify what the point is for with the awards that come with ClassDojo or they can personalize their own rewards. There are also negative points if a student doesn't make the best choice, then a teacher can take a point away and specify why they are taking a point away.

But wait there's more... The parents can also easily get involved, because they can receive weekly updates and track their kid's progress at home or the office.

ClassDojo does all of the work for a teacher and believe it or not, it's completely free!!!!!

Spelling Test is a great app for the iPad that allows you to creates pulling tests that each student can take and track their test scores. All you have to do is set up your class roster and choose an avatar for each student. Next type in the weekly spelling words and record yourself saying them (you can even give a sentence to go along with the word). Then you choose which students you want to take the test and you're ready to go! I work with Autistic students who get easily frustrated with paper and pencil tasks and this has been a lifesaver! Now my students look forward to practicing their spelling words, they even help me type in and record their new words each week!!
